College of Policy Science, Ritsumeikan University was established in 1994 to meet the new challenges of our era. Poverty, population aging, urban development and environmental pollution are just some of these challenges. Policy Science is a field of science which clarifies the causes of these social problems and explores solutions, with a view to satisfying the maximum number of members or stakeholders in society.
You will be trained in various academic fields to do that under our program. Policy problems stem from the realities of society. For this reason, we place special importance upon engaging thoughtfully with the processes of society as they occur in reality - an educational emphasis designed to cultivate problem-solving intelligence.
In 2013, the Community and Regional Policy Studies (CRPS) major, an English-based program, was launched. Because of the growing importance of English as a working language for activities accompanying globalization of the international community, the program offers policy science classes in English, aiming to educate people who have global perspectives and the skills to translate policy into action.
