Ritsumeikan University, in cooperation with University of Liverpool, is hosting a 10-day program "PAX SCHOOL 2016 ~ Enslaving the Mind ~" that invites young researchers and graduate students from RENKEI member universities to set a transdisciplinary challenge for peace. As part of the program, Ritsumeikan give a public lecture.

1st What is "I" ? ~ Individual or "Dividual"

Lecturer: Keiichiro Hirano (Novelist)

Ritsumeikan is inviting an Akutagawa Prize winner Mr. Keiichiro Hirano. In his lecture titled: What is "I"? ~ Individual or "Dividual," he will talk about the idea of "Dividualism" and its relation to enslaving the mind.
There will be an autograph session after the lecture for fans who have purchased Mr. Hirano's books at the venue or brought his books.
The lecture will be conducted in English without an interpreter.

2nd The Danger of peace: What does Israel fear from Palestine?

Lecturer: Mr. Raja Shehadeh (Writer/Lawyer)

Ritsumeikan is inviting a Palestinian lawyer and an Orwell prize-winning writer Mr. Raja Shehadeh. He is the co-founder of the human rights organization Al Haq. He handled or participated in a number of precedent-setting cases in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. He has published several books that share moving description of daily life in the West Bank. In his lecture, he will share his view towards peace in the region and the Middle East with focus on the mind of the Palestinian and Israeli people.
There will be an autograph session after the lecture for fans who have brought his books.
The lecture will be conducted in English without an interpreter.
