University of Gastronomic Sciences

The University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG) founded in 2004 in Bra, Piedmont, Italy is a unique university where students learn about gastronomic sciences on an holistic perspective. The concept of UNISG was originated by Carlo Petrini, founder of the Slow Food International. The College of Gastronomic Management has officially concluded an academic cooperation agreement with UNISG within the following scope. Further academic collaboration is also in discussion.

As part of the study trip, with the cooperation of UNISG, participants will visit local farms, stores run directly by local farmers, and a food processing factory. Additionally, taking part of the Academic Table at UNISG is also being considered.

It is a cultural exchange program in which prominent worldwide chefs come to UNISG to offer their local dishes at a reasonable price in the student cafeteria. After lunch, they will attend discussion and debate sessions with UNISG students.

Piedmont, Italy

A study tour to learn about Italian food culture, slow food movement, traditional food production and processing is lined up. The tour will mainly be in the northern Piedmont province of Italy where the University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG) and Slow Food International headquarters are located. There are opportunities to learn about the cultures of wine, meat, and pizza while observing traditional local farms, market, and food processing sites of cheese and ham of its masters. Participants will have the opportunity to study about Agriturismo like local revitalization with food.
