New Guinness World Record:Ritsumeikan University & Ritsumeikan University Alumni Association

Ritsumeikan University and Ritsumeikan University Alumni Association have set a new Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Book Sentence’. The display spells out ‘Challenge your mind, Change our future’ in Chinese characters, taken from the R2030 Ritsumeikan Academy Vision.

Books included in the display were donated by Ritsumeikan University alumni and staff based on the concept ‘Books to recommend to first year students’. The result, comprised of donations collected from September 2019, is intended to be a visual inspiration to study aimed at next year’s spring intake. Over 400 alumni were involved in approving and bringing the project to life – including Toshiya Kakiuchi, President and CEO of Mirairo Inc., and Takuji Takahashi, the third-generation owner of Kinobu, a restaurant specializing in Kyoto-style cuisine.

In addition to sending a positive message to students destined to become the leaders of the future, it is hoped this successful world record will help to further raise the profile of the Alumni Association in its centenary year, as it looks forward to an even more successful 100 years ahead.
