What is PMSG?

PMSG is short for Peer Mentor Support Group.
And it is the Student Council of CRPS major.

The purpose of PMSG is to support CRPS students with both academic and non-academic issues. Studying abroad in a new country can be challenging at times, with so many new things to learn and new habits to get used to. PMSG members are always available to help CRPS students, especially freshmen, with any problem they have at school or in daily life. Some common questions that we have heard most from our juniors are tips on having a great undergraduate life, how to best prepare for some specific course, tips on living in Japan, or what to do after graduation.

We are also the host of various student-support events aiming at bonding CRPS family members, both alumni and current students, such as career events, CRPS parties, and field-work trips.

Our events

Some of our most remarkable annual events are Hanami Event, Career Event, Welcome Party, Orientation Camp, Graduation Party, and Year-end or Winter Party.

Hanami Event

Sakura season is one of the best seasons in Japan and it also signifies the start of a new semester. To welcome everyone back to school, PMSG annually held a small cherry blossom sightseeing trip to nearby parks, giving students a chance to chat and reconnect before the semester starts.

Career Event

Career Event is usually the occasion for current students to connect and talk with their alumni. Here, students can learn about their possible paths after graduation and get useful advice from their seniors about joining the workforce or getting into graduate schools.

Welcome Party

This is the party where freshmen meet their seniors for the first time. In this party, new students will get a chance to introduce themselves, getting to know their peers and seniors, as well as asking for advice on any concern before starting their undergraduate life at Ritsumeikan.

  • Welcome party (held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic) with AY2021 enrollees [September 2021]

Orientation Camp

Probably the most exciting event of the year, Orientation Camp is an annual one to two-day fieldwork trip to a different region of Japan. In this trip, CRPS students can not only bond with each other, but they can also learn about the unique culture of Japan, as well as practice their Japanese language.

  • Orientation Camp in Tokushima [October 2017]

Graduation Party

This party is probably the last party any CRPS student can have as a current student at Ritsumeikan University. It is usually a recap of the eventful undergraduate journey for 4th year students and a send-off from the University before the students graduate.

Year-end / Winter / Christmas Party

This party is usually held around Christmas, right before the winter break starts. In this party, students get a chance to look back what they did last year, make resolutions for new year, or just simply having fun with friends after a year of hard-work.
