Research Development Program and its Projects

Project based on three research fields of "Symbiosis", "Co-creation", and "Co-commitment"

Ritsumeikan University is now promoting "Phase 4 of the Research Enhancement Mid-Term Plan(2021-2025)," which has set a goal for the university to gain the status of a "next generational research university" both in Japan and overseas. In order to be recognized as a world-class research university, it is essential that the university generates a large number of excellent results in research, establishes an internationally competitive research system, and displays distinctive endeavors worthy of such a reputation.

We are working to promote research that will contribute to the "Asian Era" that is both strategic in nature as well as possessing concepts one would come to expect from Ritsumeikan. From 2016, our goal has been to disseminate the results of such research throughout Japan and the world via our consistently developed "Program for Asia-Japan Research Development." This program promotes projects based on the three research areas of "Symbiosis," "Co-creation," and "Co-commitment."

Taking into account the significance of both "global" and "local" points of view within Asian society, we will pioneer new research areas relevant to the future of Asia and Japan.
