Company Profile

Leveraging the design, prototype proposal, and production engineering expertise cultivated through the development and manufacturing of racing car parts, we provide high-performance, high-function carbon composite products used in a variety of fields. In the space sector in particular we have contributed to weight reduction, a critical theme, and have demonstrated that value through numerous space-related projects. Going forward, we will work to further expand the application areas of carbon composites, while advancing mass-production technology development and strengthening and expanding our production base, in order to meet the growing demand in the space sector.

As a company, what value or appeal do you see in the Graduate School of Frontier Exploration in Earth and Space's approach to talent development?

Few educational institutions have the facilities to replicate the unique environment of space. We see great value in the project-based education offered here, where students conduct experiments in real conditions rather than relying solely on simulation, gaining a hands-on understanding of phenomena. The ability to learn about space as an added dimension on top of a solid foundation in science and engineering is also appealing. A grounding in science and engineering is absolutely essential across all currently prioritized development areas — exploration, transportation, and satellite applications (data utilization). Since this knowledge is applicable not only in the space industry but in adjacent fields as well, we believe it offers significant benefits to students.

We also believe it is an advantage from a corporate perspective that students in this program are likely to be highly motivated, with a clear sense of their goals — whether that is developing rockets or being involved in astronaut coordination work.

Information related to space remains fragmented, and companies continue to struggle with gathering it. We hope the Graduate School of Frontier Exploration in Earth and Space will develop into a hub for the consolidation of space-related knowledge.

What kinds of roles or positions within your company do you believe graduates of the Graduate School of Frontier Exploration in Earth and Space would excel in?

We believe that students with a solid grounding in the fundamentals of science and engineering could contribute across a wide range of roles at our company, including design, sales, manufacturing, quality assurance, and so on, spanning not only the space sector but also automotive, sports, industrial applications, and more.

The space sector presents numerous challenges that remain "uncharted" from a technological standpoint. The very attitude of taking on unknown themes at the Graduate School of Frontier Exploration in Earth and Space is itself something sought after not only in space but across a wide range of fields.

What kinds of knowledge and skills would be particularly useful in those roles and positions? Please provide some detailed examples.

· Foundational knowledge in science and engineering
Earth and space are connected. The knowledge required for design and development remains the same. Having additional expertise in space on top of that foundation is a significant advantage, enabling work on product development in environments very different from those on Earth.

· A management perspective
In manufacturing projects where specialists from diverse fields collaborate, it is essential to have not only deep expertise in one's own domain, but also the ability to see the bigger picture and the management perspective needed to drive projects forward.

· English proficiency and communication skills
In the space sector, where countries such as the United States and United Kingdom are leading players, English proficiency is essential for accessing information from overseas specialist and research institutions. Meanwhile, Japan serves as a leading presence in Asia's space domain. Going forward, expansion of space-related business across Asia is certain. We look forward to seeing international students who have studied at the Graduate School of Frontier Exploration in Earth and Space take a leading role on that front.

Message for prospective students of the Graduate School of Frontier Exploration in Earth and Space

Carbon composites are a material of untapped potential. Combined with the exceptional freedom they offer in design and manufacturing, they represent a technology still in development — one with limitless possibilities. Through our work on a wide range of development projects, we take on new challenges and trials each day, using the data, know-how, and hard-won experience of failure as fuel to nurture this technology and engineering.

I think product development in the space sector is like climbing a mountain. What views lie ahead? When will the summit come into sight? Is there only one peak? There is surely a world out there that we will be the first to see.

Those of you studying space will walk a similar path. With curiosity toward the unknown and the perseverance to keep going, that journey will surely be a remarkable one.
