The College of Information Science and Engineering (CISE) was established at the Biwako-Kusatsu Campus (BKC) in April 2004. As a comprehensive faculty in the field of information and communication technology (ICT), it has attracted attention both domestically and internationally for offering education in cutting-edge ICT. In April 2017, CISE underwent a reorganization to form a single department with seven distinct courses. It also introduced a system allowing first-year students to select their preferred course in the fall semester*1. Among its offerings is the ISSE (Information Systems Science and Engineering) course, where all instruction is in English, aimed at cultivating engineers and researchers with a global perspective, prepared to excel internationally.

In April 2024, CISE will relocate to the Osaka Ibaraki Campus (OIC) and introduce 'Units.' These Units are designed to facilitate the acquisition of broad knowledge in various information technology fields, anchored in the specialized expertise of each course*2. Students will delve into essential areas for future societies, such as Data Science for extracting valuable insights from data, AI for enabling autonomous computer decisions, DX to transform business and organizational processes through digital technology, and IoT for connecting various devices to the Internet. Through engaging in specialized fields, they aim to conduct impactful research on a global scale.

  • *1 Only the ISSE course is determined at the time of admission.
  • *2 Units will be introduced in the ISSE course from the 2028 academic year.
