Summary and Aims of the Projec

In this project, in cooperation with the Indonesian government, the "Borobudur Temple Site", a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Indonesia, and the "Liyangan", a nearby ancient city site, will be digitized and archived with precision using the latest three-dimensional measurement technology. This is the first time that a foreign researcher has been allowed to study the site, and through friendly relations and fruitful research achievements, an epoch-making project has become possible.

In addition, we will use the digital archives we created as experimental data to develop a new concept of high-definition visualization methods that are not affected by measurement noise from tropical jungles and strong sunlight. By using this visualization method to develop a high-definition "4-dimensional visualization content" of the monuments, it is possible to visualize the "temporal change" such as the construction process of the monuments and the transition of cities over time.

In collaboration with Indonesian archaeologists and other experts, it is highly expected that this will pave the way for international contributions that make effective use of 4-dimensional visualization content.
