What can we do to prevent war and create peace? In this section, we will briefly introduce methods of
peacebuilding based on the results of peace studies. First, we will review the principles of
international law and constitutional law, which are the starting point for peacebuilding. Then, we will
review the various approaches to peacebuilding support by the UN and other international organizations,
including peacekeeping operations, armed conflict prevention, and development assistance. Finally, we
will consider the activities of civil society organizations (NGOs) engaged in peacebuilding around the
world. We, the citizens, are the peacebuilders.
