Ritsumeikan University Diploma Conferral Ceremony September 2020 Academic Year

To all our college and graduate school students due to graduate in September 2020 and their families and to all our non-graduating students

In view of the current situation with COVID-19 infection, Ritsumeikan University has made the decision set out below on the holding of the fall graduation ceremony and graduate school degree award ceremony due to take place on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 (public holiday).


～Holding of ceremony～
　In connection with the graduation ceremony and graduate school degree award ceremony, the university wishes to give absolute priority to ensuring the safety and peace of mind of graduating students and their families and to preventing the spread of infection. Accordingly, the ceremonies will be held as scheduled on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, but with attendance limited to representatives of the graduating students along with the university president and other officials of the Ritsumeikan Trust. Since it will therefore unfortunately not be possible for graduating students and their families to attend, we request instead that you access the live-streaming of the ceremony on the Internet. We appreciate that graduating students and their families will have been eagerly anticipating this ceremony as marking an important milestone in their lives. We ask for your understanding at this difficult time.

～Ceremonies for presentation of graduation certificates and master’s and professional degree diplomas～
　The presentation of graduation certificates and master’s and professional degree diplomas will take place separately for each college and graduate school at the relevant campus location on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, with due measures in place to prevent the spread of infection. Graduating students are requested to prepare for attendance on the day.
　The venue and the time of the presentation ceremonies for each college and graduate school will be held as follows.

　To prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, the ceremonies for presentation of graduation certificates and master’s and professional degree diplomas will not be open to attendance by family members or non-graduating students, who are asked to refrain from visiting the campus on that day. Your understanding and cooperation will be appreciated.

　Please note that, in the event of a worsening of the COVID-19 infection situation going forward, changes may be made to the above arrangements. Changes will be announced as appropriate, so please check the university website for information.
