The Ritsumeikan University September 2022 Academic Year Commencement Ceremony (to be held in September 2022)

The September 2022 Academic Year Commencement Ceremony will be held in-person at the Osaka Ibaraki Campus, with strict preventive measures in place against infection.

We are considering the possibility of inviting family members to the ceremony, while closely monitoring the trend in the number of infections going forward. Please note that the final decision will be announced on the university's website by early September.

For graduating students and their family members who are unable to attend the ceremony at the campus, a recording will be available after the ceremony. We will inform you of the website page and other details concerning the video at a later date.

We request the understanding and cooperation of those attending in-person with respect to the following points:

  • On the day of the ceremony, attendees are required to take their temperature at home or other places before coming to the university and shall refrain from attending the ceremony if they are not feeling well. In addition, automatic temperature checks will be conducted at the entrance of the venue. If you have a fever or any other symptoms, you may be asked to return home immediately.
  • To avoid the “Three Cs” (i.e., closed spaces, crowded places, close-contact settings) on campus, please refrain from arriving on campus more than one hour before the start time of the event.
  • When you are inside a building within the campus, please wear a mask at all times. If you are outside within the campus, and if you “can keep a distance (of preferably two meters or more) from others” or “do not talk much with others when you cannot keep a safe distance,” you do not need to wear a mask. However, if you are outside and are to “talk with someone without keeping a distance (of preferably two meters or more) from each other,” you should wear a mask. Particularly when you are in a commemorative photograph session or other gatherings of a group of people, we would like to remind you that you should not take off your mask.
*If you are outside and “can keep a distance (of preferably two meters or more) from others” or “do not talk much with others when you cannot keep a safe distance,” particularly when the temperature is high, we recommend that you take off your mask in order to prevent heatstroke.
  • Individual diplomas will be conferred to students by their college or graduate school after the commencement ceremony. As soon as the event is over, please exit the campus within 30 minutes. Do not stay on campus for an extended period.
  • Please refrain from social gatherings and other kinds of meetings that involve eating and drinking before and after the ceremony.
  • The risk of infection can be reduced significantly by wearing a mask, practicing physical distancing, avoiding the Three Cs, and refraining from social eating or drinking. Please bear in mind that you should “protect yourself from the infection and should not transmit it to others” and try to control your behavior.

The diplomas for graduating/completing students who did not attend the on-campus ceremony due to individual circumstances will be mailed on a later date. ceremony.
