IP students present about Japanese culture
June 8, 2022. First-year junior high school students in the IP course presented Taiko (Japanese Drumming) and Nihon Buyo (Japanese Dance).
As part of their "Integrated Studies," all first-year students at Ritsumeikan Uji Junior High School learn Taiko for the boys and Nihon Buyo for the girls under the theme of experiencing Japanese culture.Students will be active globally in the future, and knowing about their own culture is a prerequisite for valuing the culture of others. The school also offers other hands-on programs such as woodworking and calligraphy, and students in the IP course experience both of these.Taiko is taught by the local Taiko circle "UZU" and Japanese Dance is taught by Seiju FUJIKAGE (2017 Secretary of Culture Award winner).
