The Second Language Department at Ritsumeikan Uji High School plans a variety of initiatives to expose students to foreign languages other than English and non-English speaking cultures.
Spanish is the official language in 21 countries and regions around the world, with 493 million native speakers and 591 million users including second language speakers, making it the third most commonly used language in the world.
Twenty-two students from first-year junior high school students to third-year high school students, from all junior high school IP/IC and high school IB/IM/IG courses, have entered the Spanish course this time (June 22). In the first course, students learned how to pronounce, numbers, and greetings.
In the future, this course plans to go on a Uji walking tour with Spanish students from Ritsumeikan University using the Spanish they learned.

El Departamento de Segunda Lengua de la Escuela Secundaria Ritsumeikan Uji planea varias iniciativas para exponer a los estudiantes a lenguas extranjeras distintas del inglés y a culturas no anglófonas.
El español es una lengua oficial en 21 países y regiones de todo el mundo, con 493 millones de hablantes nativos y 591 millones de usuarios, incluidos los hablantes de una segunda lengua, lo que lo convierte en el tercer idioma más utilizado del mundo y en una lengua de gran interés para los estudiantes del instituto Ritsumeikan Uji.
En esta ocasión han entrado en el curso de español 22 alumnos desde primero de bachillerato hasta tercero de secundaria, procedentes de todos los cursos del curso IP/IC de bachillerato y del curso IB/IM/IG de secundaria. En el primer curso, los alumnos aprendieron a pronunciar, los números y los saludos.
En el futuro, este curso irá seguido de un paseo por Uji con estudiantes españoles de la Universidad de Ritsumeikan, utilizando el español que han aprendido.
