Specialization / Research Interests

Apart from my extensive teaching experience, I research internationally about modern architects, designers and artists active not only in Japan, but also in India, Europe and the US. One of my key research topics is the investigation of the work and career of architect Antonin Raymond and his wife Noemi. I publish in a number of languages, including Japanese. Recently, I wrote and edited a book on collector and designer Mita Rinzo (Heibonji) (Kamogawa publ., 2024).

Message to Students

Study at the GLA will expose you to multitude of stimuli from different disciplines and countries. It will be very exciting and challenging at the same time. My advice would be: learn languages, not only English and improve your writing and sophistication in your mother tongue too!
