Specialization / Research Interests
My interests are primarily in the fields of human–computer interaction (HCI), interaction design (IxD), communication design, and design aesthetics. My recent research work explores the role of aesthetics in HCI, application of music-information retrieval (MIR) techniques, ambient media, and experimental interactive systems.
Message to Students
My courses are intended for creative and motivated students with a strong interest in design, art, technology, and related creative fields that are of increasing importance today. As AI comes to dominate many areas of our lives, it is especially important to remember that technology is meant to serve humans, not the other way around. My courses can be technically and creatively demanding, and they require sustained effort, and a willingness to learn and experiment with design tools, techniques, and theory.
