Turning My Passions and Excitement into a Career

Since work occupies one-third of our lives, I had a strong desire to turn what I love and what excites me into my career. I joined my current company because I believed it could provide me with the opportunity to make that vision a reality. Not only is the work itself enjoyable, but many of my colleagues also seem to genuinely enjoy what they do.

This, above all, is the main reason why I love my company and find my work so fulfilling. During my four years at university, I developed the ability to explore my passions, which allowed me to approach my job search without limiting myself and enjoy the process along the way. I feel incredibly fortunate to have met wonderful people, both during my student years and after joining the company. I am truly grateful every day for the opportunity to work alongside such amazing individuals.

Dual Degree Program

The Impact of “Play”: A Four-Year Journey of Discovery at GLA and ANU.

The school life I spent at GLA and ANU was a four-year journey in which I was able to continuously explore my passions and excitement. In particular, the “Play and Playfulness” course had a lasting impact on my life. In this course, we explored the concept of "play" from a philosophical perspective and learned how philosophers interpret it. In my understanding, "play" is something driven purely by enjoyment or a genuine desire to do something.

It is also something that animals naturally engage in, without being taught or forced. Throughout the course, I learned that "play" is focused on the “present moment,” not something done for future benefits, and it brings pure joy to our lives. One philosopher advocated the importance of balancing "play" with action for future benefits, and this way of thinking has influenced my perspective on how I live my life.

Memories

The Admission to ANU Grabbed on the Last Chance

Breaking through the English hurdle at the last chance was the most memorable experience of my four years in college. To enter ANU, I had to raise my TOEFL iBT score by more than 25 points within a year. Therefore, I attended 9 hours of TOEFL classes every week and took tests twice a month, in addition to my regular classes.

However, it was difficult to improve my scores as much as I had hoped. Although I passed the overall score, my Reading score was just one point short, and this near-miss situation continued multiple times, making me feel like I was about to lose hope. Eventually, I couldn’t surpass the required score, even with my final chance, and I was about to give up. However, at that moment, I learned that I could overcome the hurdle with the IELTS test, so I decided to bet everything on this last opportunity.

At the last possible moment, I took the first and final IELTS test, and with this one attempt, I was able to surpass everything.

Message

University life is not just about studying; it’s a precious time to explore your interests and passions. Through courses like "Play and Playfulness," I rediscovered how important “fun” and “play” are. What I believe is most important is not just working for the future, but embracing "the present," as I think it’s the key to making life richer. That’s why I encourage all of you to enjoy this precious time, discovering and pursuing what you love!
