Associate Professor Helena Čapková of the College of Global Liberal Arts, Ritsumeikan University, will speak at the Kyoto–Prague Sister City Partnership 30th Anniversary Lecture, “Architecture in Prague and Kyoto: From Czech Cubism to Contemporary Architectural Thought,” to be held on November 29, 2026.
The cities of Kyoto and Prague (Czech Republic) established their sister city partnership in 1996 and celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2026.
The lecture will explore the architectural and cultural connections between Prague and Kyoto while providing an overview of Prague’s architectural history. In addition to Associate Professor Helena Čapková, who was born in Prague, the speakers will include Toshikatsu Kiuchi, Specially Appointed Associate Professor at Kyoto Institute of Technology, and Akihisa Hirata, Professor at Kyoto University.
The event will be held in the Hikari-no-Hiroba Hall at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art. Admission is free, but advance registration is required . The lecture will be conducted in Japanese.

立命館大学グローバル教養学部のチャプコヴァー・ヘレナ准教授が、2026年11月29日(日)に開催される京都・プラハ姉妹都市提携30周年記念「プラハと京都の建築―チェコ・キュビスムから現代建築思想へ」に登壇します。
京都市とプラハ市(チェコ共和国)は1996年に姉妹都市提携を締結し、2026年に30周年を迎えました。
本講演会では、プラハの建築史を概観しながら、長い歴史を有するプラハと京都の建築的・文化的なつながりについて考察します。
チェコ共和国プラハ出身のチャプコヴァー・ヘレナ准教授のほか、木内俊克京都工芸繊維大学特任准教授、平田晃久京都大学教授が登壇します。
講演会は京都市京セラ美術館 光の広間で開催され、参加費は無料です(事前申込制)。
