“Asian American History Through Food”

Event Summary:

Learn about the long history of Asian American history through food items and dishes with guest speaker Tony Osumi. Students are also invited to share and discuss their own family and personal foods that bring them comfort and inspiration. This event is an international collaboration with California State University Northridge (CSUN) and collaborators in the USA. Prof. Edith Chen who teaches Asian American studies at CSUN and her students will join us. This will be an excellent opportunity for GLA students to interact with CSUN students.

 

About the Speaker:

Tony Osumi teaches at Central High School in Los Angeles and has taught courses at the University of California Los Angeles. He is also active with Nikkei Progressives and is involved in various other community activities. He has written articles, poems and created artwork for numerous community issues.
