Laboratory of Pharmacology and Brain Science
Drug discovery research based on pharmacology and brain science
Our laboratory aims to develop innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for dementia through research grounded in pharmacology and brain science. Dementia is a devastating neurodegenerative disorder that profoundly affects a person’s identity and quality of life, highlighting the urgent need to elucidate its pathogenic mechanisms and establish disease-modifying therapies. We investigate the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying dementia to identify novel therapeutic targets for drug discovery. We also conduct translational research to bridge basic scientific discoveries with clinical applications in diagnosis and treatment. In addition, our research focuses on brain resilience—the brain’s intrinsic capacity to maintain and restore its function in response to aging and disease. By uncovering the mechanisms that enhance resilience, we seek to develop preventive strategies that promote resistance to neurodegenerative disorders and ultimately contribute to healthy brain aging.
