Basic and Clinical Studies for Individualized Pharmacotherapy

The efficacy and safety of clinically used drugs are secured through clinical trial results at the development stage. Clinical trials are mainly conducted in healthy volunteers and patients who satisfy certain conditions, such as whether they are using concomitant drugs. In clinical practice, however, in order to administer drugs to patients who have various clinical backgrounds, it is necessary to consider the drug-drug interactions and comorbidities as variation factors for pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. It is well known that the pharmacokinetics of a drug is closely related to its efficacy and safety. According to this concept, we attempt to clarify the intrinsic factors affecting pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, as well as side effects, and deploy basic research and clinical research in parallel to develop individualized pharmacotherapy.
