On Friday, September 25, Ritsumeikan University held the AY2026 fall matriculation ceremony on the Osaka Ibaraki Campus and welcomed 350 new students (undergraduate: 133, graduate: 217).

In his address, President Nakatani congratulated the new students as they embarked on this new chapter, saying: “Ritsumeikan University aims to become a next-generation research university by 2030. To overcome the serious issues facing all humanity—including wars, conflicts, climate change, and energy problems—and build a sustainable society, it is essential to bring together knowledge from diverse academic disciplines and create new values and concepts. Ritsumeikan is refining its knowledge and creating new values of harmonious coexistence by collaborating with research institutions and researchers around the world, industry, and national and local governments. I hope that all of you will use your studies and research to explore what the society of the future should look like and take on the challenge of making that vision a reality.”

To welcome the new students, a flower wall was erected at the ceremony venue and several photo spots were set up around campus to serve as backdrops for commemorative photos. Throughout the campus, many new students could be seen smiling for photos with friends and family, creating a celebratory atmosphere.
