We aim to be a learning community where people who change the world are nurtured - a school where children and adults enjoy challenges together and continue to change and grow.
The society around us is changing at a dizzying pace due to the borderless nature of international society and the dramatic innovations in science and technology. These advancements have made it easier for us to quickly learn new information and we are able to connect with people around the world in dynamic environments. We are also at a point in history where the potential of generative AI is consistently evolving at a rapid pace. Despite these convenient and abundant developments in our society, there are still wars and conflicts all over the world, and many people are still suffering from violence, poverty, and discrimination. The question of whether every person living in this modern society has a good quality of life remains a big issue.
Our wish as educators is for the happiness of children and a fair and peaceful world. At Ritsumeikan Primary School, we hope that our children will grow up to be creators of the world they inhabit, and we also hope that the parents and teachers involved in their children's education will work together to achieve the same goals in our present day. Our goal is to create a learning community where everyone can share the joy of change and growth and, at the same time, build a relationship where we can be considerate of each other's growing pains as we undergo various transformations.
In pursuit of such a learning community, Ritsumeikan Primary School has developed learning based on our "Four Pillars" approach, and we have also enhanced international and ICT education in anticipation of the coming age. Making the most of its location in Kyoto, the school also values opportunities to come into contact with traditional Japanese culture. These learning principles are expressed in our "Five Pledges" so that children can understand the idea of DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion). At Ritsumeikan Primary School, we aim to harmonize these sensibilities and intellects while nurturing the roots of each child to become independent global leaders who are the creators of the world we live in.
