Survey Analysis
Associate Professor YAMADE Miya
Online Syllabus
Survey analysis allows students to learn techniques for quantitatively analyzing the results from a survey using text mining (KH Coder).
Here are some examples we have seen in class. For example, one student conducted a survey of university students about disaster prevention education in China. The stages of the survey included (1) creating survey items, (2) conducting the survey through SNS and interviews, (3) analyzing the obtained data using text mining, (4) discussing the survey results, and (5) making a presentation and discussing the results.
Since each student can decide on a theme of interest and conduct research, some students use the results obtained here for their graduation thesis or master's thesis.
Through this class, students will not only learn the techniques of text mining, but also acquire the skills to create survey items, methods to conduct surveys, and the ability to analyze data objectively.
