Integrated Academic Skills I is a course that allows you to use and further develop your English reading, writing, discussion, and presentation skills. We explore a wide variety of topics by reading materials and watching videos, then strengthen our understanding through worksheets and in-depth discussions with classmates. Past topics have included language learning, the power of music, the effects of social networking sites, mental health, and living in Japan as a foreign student.

Outside of class, students write academic essays and prepare group presentations related to these themes. The course emphasizes effective collaboration with classmates, as well as incorporating your own ideas and outside sources into your writing and presentations. This course is ideal for students who are open to sharing and listening to diverse perspectives, want to work on group projects, and eager to build confidence in using English for academic purposes.
