On-site Research Project - Thai Project (Host)

2022

Dec. 4 - 14, 2022

The 5th Collaborative Workshop between Ritsumeikan University and Chulalongkorn University“Housing, Real Estate and Urban Development in Japan: Change and Transformation from the Past to Post COVID-19 Era”was conducted from December 4 to 14, 2022. Students from Chulalongkorn University, who had hosted us during our nine-day visit to Thailand as guests in summer, came to Japan. Together with them, we extended our activities beyond our OIC Campus to Osaka and Kyoto, conducting fieldwork and listening to many people's stories at various locations.

To conclude the course, students presented their final research reports, combining findings from the summer fieldwork in Thailand with subsequent research, thereby deepening our collective learning.

This course is a joint program in which students from the Japanese medium major (PS major) and the English medium major (CRPS major) learn together through respective projects. For the Thailand Project in 2022, five international students from the CRPS major (originating from China, Vietnam, and Myanmar) and one Japanese student from the PS major participated. They undertook group work together throughout the year, attending four courses: the Spring Semester (Introduction to On-site Research I), the Summer Break (Introduction to On-site Research Summar Session [Guest]), and the Fall Semester (Introduction to On-site Research II and On-site Survey Exercise Host).

Members who visited Thailand in summer 2022 continued their research based on findings from their fieldwork there and subsequently submitted their final investigation report.
