Informal meeting Held with Kumamoto University

On Wednesday, August 27, 2024, at Kumamoto University, Vice President Miyake, RISA Director Kaneko, and Dean of Academic Affairs/RISA Deputy Director Araki , who are also members of Ritsumeikan University's Semiconductor Applied Research Center (RISA) held discussions with Kumamoto University President Ogawa and board members responsible for education, research, university reform, finance, and other areas.
During the meeting, Director Kaneko introduced RISA's initiatives, explaining research in the field of new semiconductor materials and applied research utilizing semiconductors. He also shared examples of collaborative efforts with the executive branch for semiconductor human resource development and research hub formation, such as the “Reskilling Bridge Creation Project ‘Semiconductor Practical Course’” commissioned by Shiga Prefecture starting this year.
Representatives from Kumamoto University raised questions regarding potential collaboration with J-PEAKS and seminars to be held by RISA in Kikuyo Town, Kumamoto Prefecture the day after the meeting, leading to a lively exchange of opinions.
Furthermore, given that RISA has established a joint laboratory at APU (Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University), discussions also covered diverse educational collaborations involving APU, as well as potential future partnerships between Ritsumeikan University and Kumamoto University.
