Meeting with Governor of Shiga Prefecture

On Thursday, October 31, 2024, Ritsumeikan University’s Chairman Tomozo Morishima and Professor Kentaro Kaneko, Director of the Semiconductor Applied Research Center, met with Shiga Prefecture Governor Taizo Mikazuki at the Shiga Prefectural Office.

In the meeting, Professor Kaneko provided an overview of the latest trends in the domestic and global semiconductor industry, based on materials compiled by the university regarding semiconductor policy. Following this, an exchange of views was held on future policy perspectives through industry-academia-government collaboration. This dialogue aimed to foster technological advancement and strengthen competitiveness in the semiconductor sector within a long-term vision for regional industrial development.
Based on this dialogue, both parties agreed to work together toward establishing a research and development hub for semiconductors.

The Semiconductor Applied Research Center at Ritsumeikan University remains committed to promoting research and technological innovation for the advancement of the semiconductor industry through continued industry-academia-government collaboration.
