Establish Your Destiny
Antonela Mihaljevic/Germany
I was one of the SKP students who participated in the OSE track. The OSE track gave me the opportunity to study various topics as Globalization and International Relations from a Japanese point of view while discussing with students from all over the world. I also learned how to make Matcha during my tea ceremony class as part of the JTA courses. In addition, I participated in classes outside of the official OSE framework. I always felt welcomed in all my classes whether I was officially registered or not. Together with other SKP students, I participated in many field trips. One of them was with my Theme study class. We travelled to Taiwan to participate in ASEP and I felt proud to be one of the representatives of Ritsumeikan University and hold a presentation with my group members. On campus the BBP was a place to meet friends, teaching German and learning Japanese. After a TISA event, I became interested in pottery and joined a Japanese friend’s pottery club. We made teacups, which I use now back at home. I met a lot of people and enjoyed Kinugasa campus life. All those on- and off-campus experiences are precious memories of my year at Ritsumeikan University. The people at Ritsumeikan here helped me to understand Kyoto and to appreciate its culture. Bypassing Machiya houses, temples, shrines from between Katsuragawa and Kamogawa, I could deepen the knowledge I gained during the classes and explore my Kyôto. The SKP program is a great opportunity for those who want to study in Kyoto at one of Japan's Top universities. Ritsumeikan is a place where you can establish your destiny.
