Kyogen, a traditional performing art by junior high and high school students

SA (Scholar Athlete & Artist) students in action.

There are four students who are Kyogen performers at our school. Yoshikazu and Takamasa are in their second year of junior high school, and Tatsumasa and Toramasa are in their third year of high school.

On September 23, "Shigeyama Kyogenkai Autumn: 200th Anniversary of Kyuzo Shigeyama VIII's Death" was held at the Kongo Noh Theater, and the above four performers appeared.
In "Okina," Tatsumasa performed "Sanbaso" and Yoshikazu performed "Senzai" for the first time.
In "Bishamon," Toramasa and Takamasa played the roles of the pilgrims.
Toramasa also played the role of a townsperson in “Kujizainin."

【Tatsumasa's comment】
This Shigeyama Kyogenkai was my first performance, and I was very nervous. It is said that this performance is a step in the process of Kyogen, so I am happy that I was able to finish it successfully. I will continue to work hard to become a full-fledged Kyogen performer.

【Comment by Toramasa】
I was very nervous about the performance of "Bishamon," which had not been performed by the Shigeyama Sengoro family for more than 100 years, but I am glad it ended well.
It was the first time for my brother and I to perform a side-kyogen together, and there was a slight discrepancy in the timing of the scenes we had to perform together, so I will work hard from now on to make our timing match up.

At the "Shigeyama Kyogen: Harvest Festival of Laughter 2022" held at the Kongo Noh Theater on October 10, Tatsumasa played the role of Tarokaja in the play "Busu" and Toramasa played the role of Jirokaja, while Yoshikazu and Takamasa performed in the play "fish hook".
Both junior high school students, Yoshikazu and Takamasa, expressed their enthusiasm, saying, "I would like to participate in many more performances in the future to gain more experience.

Expectations are high for the future activities of the four members.
