IG course 1st year "Core" classes

In the "Core I" class for first-year high school students in the IG Course, students will spend the next three semesters learning about the local Uji area with the cooperation of various business sites in Uji. Specifically, through the activity policies and approaches of each business, students will discover the attractions of each business, identify issues, and propose solutions.

The students discussed and decided in class which worksites they would explore, and the HR Steering Committee coordinated the discussions. on Monday, December 5, in the Core class, people from each worksite visited the school and gave a talk to each class. The students learned how to make sencha green tea and tasted it carefully, thought about the Tale of Genji, and learned about traditional crafts that have been handed down for over several hundred years in their hometown of Uji, the current state of animal slaughter, and the various efforts of the botanical park and Ujibashi shopping district near our school. We will now use Core classes and Saturday Utilization time to work in groups.

As an opportunity to practice asking questions, the 1st year homeroom teachers taught a lesson on "Why do we learn?

The students listened to the teacher's talk, which had a different approach and content each time, and asked questions in response to them. The class was an opportunity for each student to deepen his or her own thinking about "Why learn?
