Junior high school 3rd year study tour
Final day of junior high school 3rd year study tour: training by course
Today, the participants were divided into groups for each course. Nagasaki City Course: It was raining lightly at first, but later it stopped and we were able to go sightseeing without rain gear. 10 groups were divided and left by taxies to visit tourist attractions such as Glover Garden, Megane Bridge, and Dejima Island. Most of them had a meal in Chinatown and enjoyed Nagasaki City to the fullest.
Gunkanjima Course: Unfortunately, due to high waves, the landing on Gunkanjima and the excursion around Gunkanjima were cancelled, but we were able to enjoy Nagasaki from the perspective of the sea while taking a cruise in Nagasaki Bay. We were able to learn more about Gunkanjima at the Gunkanjima Digital Museum, enjoy Glover Park and Glover Street, and enjoy Nagasaki to the fullest.
West Kyushu Shinkansen and Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine Course: From Nagasaki Station to Takeo Onsen Station, we boarded the West Kyushu Shinkansen and headed for Fukuoka Prefecture. At Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, after a briefing by the bus guide, the students strolled around in groups. There was no major break in the weather, and the trip was full of smiles from the students.
Kujuukushima Pearl Sea Resort Course: Although the weather was on and off with rain, we enjoyed the calm sea of Kujuukushima and the scenery of the islands. At the Kujuukushima Aquarium Umi Kirara, we took a backyard tour and learned about the behind-the-scenes of the aquarium, which is usually unseen. We enjoyed a Sasebo burger for lunch and had a very satisfying trip.
Huis Ten Bosch Course: Although the weather was unfortunate with occasional rain showers, each group enjoyed riding the attractions, eating food, and taking pictures. At the end of the tour, we bought souvenirs of every kind and left Huis Ten Bosch with smiles on our faces.
Four days spent away from their parents and on their own. The students went through a variety of experiences and showed us many different faces. Please ask your children about these four days. I am sure you will see them grow up a lot.
3rd year junior high school students' study tour day 3: leaving ceremony, peace study
The third day of the study tour started with the residential retreat ceremony! Every family was filled with warmth. Some of them secretly bought gifts for their hosts when they were taken sightseeing, and gave them to their host mothers as a surprise, which brought tears to their eyes. "The food was delicious!", "Thank you so much!"
It was a warm leaving ceremony with such comments from the students.
In the afternoon, we had a peace study. The students were impressed by the words of an Atomic bomb survivor: "What is the meaning of reconstruction?",
"What is the meaning of reconstruction?", "What do you think is the key to peace?", "Why do people start wars?" ... What kind of "peaceful" world will the students create with the words of the Hibakusha?
Junior High School 3rd Year Study Tour Day 2: Rural Homestay!
On the second day of the study tour, we split into Ajimuin and Yufu for overnight stays in rural villages.
Each family experienced farming, making small handicrafts, and cooking local dishes. The students were so excited to be in their first place and to experience it for the first time! The students who became good friends with their hosts also seem to have definitely deepened their bonds with their friends and with their hosts.
This will surely remain as sparkling memories in the hearts of the students forever!
Today, we would like to share with you some of the comments from the students who were so impressed with their stay at the host families.
《Comments from students at the rural homestay》
・The food our hosts cooked for us was delicious, so good, we ate a lot of it!
・I've never talked so much with everyone before, and I'm having so much fun!
・We just moved the greenhouses from there to here by ourselves! Isn't that amazing!
At tomorrow's leaving ceremony, I am sure that we will see them bidding farewell to their hosts with various experiences and memories in their hearts.
Tomorrow, the students will travel to Nagasaki for a peace study.
Jr. 3 Study Tour Day 1: APU Training and Rural Village Accommodation Start
The junior high school study tour has begun. During the APU training program, the students enjoyed a campus tour and communication in English with international students. The students were eagerly listening to the presentations of the international students, their eyes sparkling as they listened to their introductions of various countries. I could feel their growth over the past three years as they managed to communicate with each other in English and introduce Japanese culture based on the themes they had set for themselves.
After the APU training, the students finally met their hosts. All the students, while looking nervous, greeted their hosts with smiles and high expectations for the next two days. What kind of two days will they have now?
On the second day, we will report on the situation at the private accommodation.
