IB students attended Yale Model United Nations Taiwan (YMUNT)

Between March 24-26, seven IB students attended Yale Model United Nations Taiwan (YMUNT) in Taipei, six of them in-person and one of them online. Each student represented a country or a specific position in an international organization, discussing a diverse array of complex topics such as sports in politics, human rights, child labor, sustainability, and climate change. There were around 400 students at the event representing high schools from across the globe.
Over three days, students studied deeply into their representative topics while cooperating and debating with their peers to make resolutions and agreements as is common at Model United Nations. This required our students to step out of their comfort zone, and give speeches in front of a large audience. Our students – many of them participating in an MUN for the first time – stood up to the challenge and performed outstandingly, three of them receiving awards at the end of the conference: Hina Shinagawa was awarded Honorable Mention, while Remie Saunders and Rin Murakoso received Outstanding Delegate Awards.
