Fifteen junior high school students took on the challenge of a bicycle tour around Lake Biwa (50 km around the southern lake).

The Biwa road is partly in the mountains. The students climbed up the mountain path along the precipice, laughing, "We can't see Lake Biwa even though we are on a bicycle tour of Lake Biwa." We took a lunch break after crossing the Lake Biwa Bridge via the Iimuro Valley, where Hieizan monks are thought to have undergone severe ascetic training.
