JH WOW program :Opening the door to this country Series 1 - The door that connects with Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a country with a population of 190 million people living on about 40% of the face value of Japan. Mr. Kuniaki Okabayashi, who teaches Japanese as a Japanese language teacher in this country, which is also called the poorest country in Asia, and four local staff members visited Japan to interact with our junior high school students.

In 2011, our school launched the "Bangladesh Support Project," a voluntary group of high school students, which has been providing educational support mainly in rural areas of Bangladesh with the cooperation of Mr. Okabayashi.

On the day of the event, 35 junior high school students participated, and were able to hear about the local educational situation, city transportation, cuisine, and culture, which are completely different from those in Japan. Afterwards, the students enjoyed Bangladeshi tea and sweets while interacting with four local staff members.

"It's spicier than I thought!, but it is delicious! , "These cookies are the best!" We had a good time through food. The students asked many questions about Bangladesh, and the time for exchange ended in a flash.

The experience of experiencing another country's culture firsthand is very valuable. We plan to continue the "Opening Doors in this country" series to connect our students with people who are active in various countries!

Please look forward to future installments of this series!
