JH WOW Program!

From Monday, June 19 to Thursday, June 22, seven WOW Programs were held in the afternoon.

The WOW Programs are designed to provide students with "hands-on" experiences that are not possible in their regular school life.

The students who participated in the program enjoyed the exciting time with lively expressions on their faces.

The WOW Program this time included

1. Let's learn how to use the body through mat exercise!

Two of our junior high school students who wrestle at the school served as instructors, and the students enjoyed various mat exercises such as forward rolls, backward rolls, and upside-down stands.

2. Eikaiwa WOW! - Let's interact with international students!

With the help of six international students currently studying at the school, the junior high school students enjoyed an exchange program in English with the students. They introduced their countries of origin, reasons for coming to Japan, and enjoyed conversing about a variety of topics.

3. Money Talks

Participants had a chance to experience life planning with people from Sony Life Insurance. Using a real life planner and actual software, each group set up a virtual family and ran a simulation. They realized that their families earn money and manage their finances while also thinking about their own future, which made them feel even more grateful.

4. Flower Arrangement

Two instructors gave the students a hands-on ikebana experience. For many of the students, it was their first time to try ikebana, but they followed their own sensibilities and created their own unique works of art.

5. Let's go to Uji! ~Let's take a walk in the city of Uji.

With the help of Uji City volunteer guides, the students strolled around Uji City. We visited Byodoin Phoenix Hall, Ujigami Shrine, and other places of interest to deepen our learning. The students were able to learn more about Uji, the city where our school is located, and develop an attachment to it.

6. WOW DANCE PROJECT

Two of our teachers with cheerleading experience gave dance lessons. Despite the short time of the lesson, everyone was able to enjoy dancing to one song together at the end.

7. Kyoto Newspaper WOW

Four instructors from the Kyoto Shimbun visited our school to conduct a newspaper reading workshop. They introduced each other about articles they found interesting, and at the end of the workshop, they summarized them on a sheet of imitation paper and presented them to the whole class. It was an opportunity to rediscover the appeal of newspapers.
