The 2023 National High School Athletic Meet Judo Competition was held at Kitaeru, Sapporo, Hokkaido, from August 8 (Tue.) to 12 (Sat.), 2023. Representatives from each prefecture gathered in one place to compete for the top spot in the competition.
The results of the competitors from our school are as follows.
Women's team
2nd round: Lost to Saga Commercial High School 0-3
Women's Individual - 48kg
Best 8: Wakana Takami (Sr. 3)
Women's individual-57kg weight class
Best 16: Aika Miyamoto (Sr. 3)
In the women's team competition, the team took on Saga Commercial, which ended up winning the championship, but was unable to hold on and was defeated. However, Rei Okubo (Sr. 2), who participated only in the team competition, showed a vigorous judo performance that will lead to the next round.
In the women's individual competition, third-year students Wakana Takami and Aika Miyamoto showed all the strength they have cultivated so far as the culmination of their high school careers. Although the results were naturally disappointing, the girls performed their judo with dignity, carrying the name of Ritsumeikan Uji High School on their backs on the grand stage of the Inter-High School competition.
The audience limit was removed from this year's tournament, and the direct support of so many people was the greatest source of strength for the athletes. We would also like to thank the many people who gave us encouragement as we competed in the Inter-High Schools. We will make the most of this experience and devote ourselves even more to the competition.
