As of May 17, Ritsumeikan Uji’s 2024 IB graduates are accepting places at universities around the world. Compared to the global average IB score of 30.24 (on a 45-point scale), the 2024 graduating class attained an average score of 33.7. This remarkable achievement paved the way for acceptances into many of the highest ranked universities in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Students selected majors including sociology, international liberal studies, environment and information studies, liberal arts, law, business, medicine, politics and international relations, computer science, mathematics, international food and agricultural science, and psychology.

       The IB students begin working on applications in June of their final year. With the help of our IB University Counseling team, they prepared their personal essays, letters of recommendation and interview techniques.

       Graduates who chose schools in Australia and Japan have already begun classes. This year, one member of the graduating class chose to attend Australian university at one of Australia’s prestigious Group of Eight schools, Monash University. Students attending Japanese schools joined April entrance ceremonies at International Christian University, Waseda University, Keio University, Ritsumeikan University, Okayama University, and Tokyo University of Agriculture.

       Students who will attend university in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States are in the process of planning for their fall starts. Two of our graduates will attend University of Toronto, ranked first in Canada by Times Higher Education, joining alums from the graduating classes of 2020, 2021, and 2023. In the United States, students were accepted by highly competitive schools and will attend the University of California, Berkeley, Columbia University, Mount Holyoke College, Boston University, and American University. Our UK matriculations include King’s College London, University College London, and Manchester University. Our UK-bound students will join eight members of our previous two graduating classes already in England, ensuring support beyond borders.
