ip
On Tuesday, June 4th, 2023, first-year students from classes 1 and 5 at Ritsumeikan Uji Junior High School held a presentation of Japanese dance and drumming at the Ritsumeikan Uji Grand Hall. The event was part of the school's comprehensive learning program, which emphasizes the importance of understanding and mastering Japan's traditional culture amidst its goal of internationalization.
The female students, under the guidance of Ms. Seiju FUJIKAGE, learned Japanese dance, while the male students were trained in drumming by the local "Wa-Taiko Circle Uzu". In the presence of an audience that included their guardians, the students demonstrated the skills they had acquired, delivering performances that were both powerful and graceful on stage.
Ritsumeikan Uji Junior High School aims to deepen students' understanding of their own culture through this program and to cultivate an appreciation and continuation of these cultural practices. Additional classes are scheduled to hold similar presentations, with the school community looking forward to seeing the students' ongoing growth and accomplishments.
