Two Students from Our School Selected for the Junior Flag Football International Cup 2024

This July, Maruku Nakagawa and Sora Aoki from our school have been honored with selection to the Japanese national team for the under-15 boys' category at the upcoming Junior Flag Football International Cup 2024 in Los Angeles. This prestigious selection was announced by the Japan American Football Association, and the students have officially reported their inclusion to the principal on July 10.

The Junior Flag Football International Cup will see participation from six countries: Japan, the United States, Panama, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. With flag football being included as a sport in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, there is a heightened focus on developing players in these countries, and the expectations for the Japanese team's performance are particularly high.

Flag football is a variant of American football, characterized by the need for players to devise and execute unique strategies during the game. While our school's middle school American football club primarily focuses on touch football, it actively participates in flag football tournaments as well. This allows our students to enhance their skills and broaden their experiences in different forms of the sport.

The school community and supporters are eagerly anticipating the performance of Nakagawa and Aoki at the international event, as they represent not only our school but also Japan on this global stage.
