High School IB Course Kayak Experience at Lake Biwa
ib
On Tuesday, July 16th, just before the summer break, all grades of the high school IB course participated in a kayak experience at Lake Biwa. This annual event is planned and organized by the students themselves.
The journey from school to Takashima City in Shiga Prefecture took about an hour and a half by bus. Despite being in the rainy season, the weather was favorable with cloudy skies and moderate temperatures.
In the morning, students learned how to ride the kayaks and practiced freely on the lake for an hour. Once they got the hang of it, they divided into five groups for a race. After lunch, they engaged in group games using water guns, with some students even swimming in Lake Biwa. It was an active and enjoyable day.
Notably, four determined students cycled from Kyoto to the event, taking four hours to complete the journey. Keeping up with the teachers' pace was quite challenging for them.
