Ritsumeikan Uji Junior High School Students Showcase Traditional Japanese Dance and Taiko Performance
On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, the students of 1st-year classes 2 and 6 at Ritsumeikan Uji Junior High School held a Japanese dance and taiko drum performance at the Ritsumeikan Uji Grand Hall.This event was part of the school’s comprehensive learning program, which emphasizes the importance of understanding and acquiring knowledge of traditional Japanese culture in the context of internationalization.The female students studied Japanese dance under the guidance of Ms. Seiju Fujikage, while the male students learned taiko drumming from the local "Wadaiko Circle Uzu."
On the day of the event, with parents and other spectators in attendance, the students showcased the skills they had learned, delivering powerful and intricate performances on stage.Through this program, the school aims to deepen students' understanding of their own culture and nurture their ability to respect and pass it on to future generations.
The next performance by classes 3 and 4 is scheduled for November 12. Their growth and accomplishments are eagerly anticipated.
