Famous local pastry chef gave a lecture in the "Food Design"
Ms. Konomi Hagata, pastry chef at the famous Chez HAGATA in Uji, gave a lecture titled "Local production for local consumption - Uji tea sweets loved by the local people." Listening to her story of how she overcame many difficulties and failures in order to deliver delicious sweets by being particular about ingredients, students learned that the store is what it is today thanks to a lot of efforts behind the scenes. Students were also deeply impressed by the fact that even in a time when women were not able to play an active role, she did not blame society or her age, but pursued her own way of life and moved forward with conviction. They were also encouraged by her message of "Never Give Up and Try Everything." The class was very moving for both the mind and the sense of taste, as the students were able to experience the real taste of the ingredients, such as hojicha tea tiramisu, green tea summer terrine, and green tea cookies.
