Junior high school 3rd graders’ Field Trip to Nara
On Friday, April 25, the 9th grade students went on a field trip to Nara, where they explored the city on foot.
As part of their cultural learning journey, the 21st class had previously visited Uji in their first year and central Kyoto in their second year. By visiting Nara this time, they were able to further deepen and expand their knowledge and understanding of Japanese culture.
In August, the students will take part in a study trip to Australia, where they hope to share aspects of Japanese culture with their host families and local students.
For this trip, each group created its own itinerary and spent the day working together as a team, visiting a variety of cultural and historical sites, including Kofuku-ji, Gango-ji, Todai-ji, Kasuga Taisha, Mount Wakakusa (where they had lunch), the Shosoin Repository, Nigatsu-do, Sangatsu-do, Ukimi-do, and Shin-Yakushi-ji.
Rather than simply taking photos at each location, the students also conducted interviews with tourists, and they are now creating their own guidebooks as a part of their follow-up learning.
Under the warm and pleasant weather, the students enjoyed the day in a way that truly reflected the spirit of the 21st class.
