Connecting with Society through Practical Inquiry — 12th Grade Students Present Their Work at the “Musubi Market”

On Sunday, September 21, 2025, four groups of 12th grade students enrolled in the Core Inquiry 3 course participated in the “Musubi Market” held at AEON Mall Kumiyama.

In the Core Inquiry 3 course, students identify social issues on their own and engage in research and hands-on activities to explore solutions, as part of their final year of high school. At this “Musubi Market,” 4 out of the total 36 groups were selected to exhibit, presenting their findings and providing interactive experiences for visitors.

Exhibit Highlights

  • A workshop on the theme of “Guilt-Free” living
  • Sales of bread made using malted rice (kōji)
  • Stamp-making and picture book creation using imperfect vegetables
  • Craft experiences using recycled materials

Many visitors stopped by the booths, listened to the students’ ideas, and took part in the activities. By bringing their learning into a real-world setting and engaging in direct dialogue with community members, the students gained new insights and identified areas for further exploration.

Participating students commented, “We really felt that our research reached the local community,” and “Receiving direct feedback from society gave us ideas for our next steps.” The event served as a meaningful opportunity for students to realize the importance of connecting their learning to the real world through practical inquiry.

Our school will continue to value opportunities for students to actively tackle challenges in collaboration with the local community and people from diverse backgrounds.
