IB Students Present Their Learning from the Ogasawara Trip at TED-Ed Student Talks

On Saturday, October 25, a speech contest titled TED-Ed Student Talks, jointly hosted by Osaka Jogakuin High School and Myojo High School, was held. Eight second-year IB course students from our school participated and gave presentations in English based on the theme “Summer Independent Research,” sharing their learning from the Ogasawara-Chichijima study trip.

■ Sharing Experiences from Ogasawara with the World

In their presentations, students talked about their personal insights from nature experiences and fieldwork, growing awareness of environmental conservation, and their interactions with local residents. Each speech was filled with passion and drew in the audience, receiving warm applause from those in attendance.

■ Toward the Next Challenge to Broaden Learning

The students had previously presented the results of their Ogasawara study trip at the school festival, and through this TED-Ed experience, they further enhanced their communication and presentation skills. From January, they are also planning to share their learning at the Miyako Ecology Center, focusing on the realization of a sustainable society. In addition, they are actively engaged in fundraising efforts to help protect the natural environment of Ogasawara, expanding their inquiry into broader societal impact.

■ Supporting the Growth of Our Students

The International Baccalaureate (IB) course places great importance on sharing learning outcomes with society. This presentation opportunity allowed students to express their thoughts in an international context while also deepening their awareness of environmental issues. We look forward to their continued growth and success in the future.
