Junior High School Student Council visit to Hiroshima "Thinking about Peace".
On August 5 and 6, five representatives of the Junior High School Student Council visited Hiroshima.
On the first day, they visited Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, where they mainly learned about the damage caused by the atomic bomb. They also participated in the "Evening of Prayer and Peace on a Summer Night" at Hiroshima Toshogu Shrine, where they listened to a lecture about Hiroshima at the time of the atomic bombing, felt the tragedy of war, and prayed for peace.
On the second day, after praying silently in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, each participant wrote one wish on a lantern. They also saw the traces of the atomic bombing at Hiroshima Castle and participated in a reading of A-bomb accounts at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims.
Students have had opportunities to learn about the atomic bomb and war, but by visiting the site, they learned many new things about the tragedy of war and the horror of the atomic bomb. In the future, the students plan to present what they learned during this visit to the whole school and have a time for all students to think about war.
