[IM Course] Five Student Groups Participate in the "SIVI Marche" Event
― Bringing GLS Learning into Society: Presenting Problem-Solving Activities on Diverse Themes ―
On Sunday, November 9, as part of the GLS (Global Leadership Studies) curriculum, five student groups from the IM Course participated in the charity event “SIVI Marche,” organized by Kansai SIVIO, a Laos education support organization. Many visitors kindly offered their support and encouraging words, making it a valuable opportunity for students to feel a real connection with society.
■ What is GLS (Global Leadership Studies)?
The IM Course is built upon three pillars: (1) Enriched Study Abroad, (2) Immersion Classes, and (3) Problem-Based Learning. GLS serves as the core of this program. Conducted twice a week, it encourages students to align global issues with their own interests to create positive change. In their third year, students apply all the skills they’ve cultivated in the IM Course to engage in a year-long inquiry project. Participating in the event gave students a meaningful opportunity to share their research with the broader community.

“We were anxious as it was our first time selling something, but thanks to everyone's support, it was a fulfilling experience. We want to continue expanding warm, communal eating environments.”
◆ Pomeranian Enthusiasts Theme: Solving the Shortage of Foster Families for Rescued Animals
They raised awareness about rescued animals and sold related goods.
“Selling products was more difficult than expected, but when we were able to convey the appeal and people made purchases, it gave us a strong sense of accomplishment.”
◆ One Life Theme: Creating a Society Where Humans and Animals Coexist
Sold sweet potatoes to support animal shelters.
“We learned how challenging sales can be, but we were impressed by how genuinely interested people were in social issues and how attentively they listened to us. It was a valuable learning experience.”
◆ Re PLA Theme: Raising Awareness to Solve the Plastic Waste Problem
Encouraged interest in waste issues through plastic-based jewelry and a card game.
“We were happy to see so many people become aware of the issue through our card game.”
◆ Economics 1 Theme: Supporting Children from Single-Parent Households

“We were deeply grateful that more people than we expected took time to listen and donated. We hope to continue engaging in various support initiatives.”
