Student Council Hosts the 4th General Assembly – Fostering Ownership Through School Rules
December 19, 2024 — The 4th Student General Assembly was held for students in the High School IG Course. The theme this time was "School Rules." The goal was to deepen learning by encouraging each student to develop a sense of ownership and think about what better school rules for Ritsumeikan Uji should look like.
On the day of the event, class representatives and HR committee members acted as facilitators, and students were divided into groups of about six for discussions. Using the method of "essential understanding," they engaged in constructive dialogue around the fundamental question, "What makes a good rule?"
Hanada-san, the 31st Student Council President, who gave overall guidance via Zoom, reflected on the event:
"Since it was our first attempt, I was a bit anxious, but seeing everyone actively engaging in conversations and the facilitators working hard to energize the discussions made me very happy. With the limited time remaining before graduation, I want to continue initiatives like this to lay a strong foundation of awareness for the future of Ritsumeikan Uji."
The upcoming 5th Student General Assembly, scheduled for January, will expand participation to include the IB and IM Courses. Through cross-course dialogue, we aim to explore diverse values and engage in deeper discussions about what school rules should look like moving forward.
