Career Approach for Grade 9 Students Launch of AI-Integrated Career Education
For third-year junior high school students, an AI-integrated career education program provided by the High School Students Future Lab (General Incorporated Association) has begun as part of the “Period for Integrated Studies” in the third term.
This program is conducted over a total of four sessions per class (eight hours in total). In the initial lessons, students first learned about “What AI is” and engaged in literacy education focused on how we should interact with AI. In a society where AI has become an increasingly familiar presence, the program aims to help students develop the ability to understand AI correctly and use it appropriately.
Subsequently, students began working hands-on with AI tools to reflect on their own interests and strengths, and to explore what kinds of careers may suit them. They also considered in concrete terms what kinds of learning experiences and preparation at high school and university would be necessary to pursue those careers, allowing them to begin mapping out pathways for their future.
As we enter an era in which we will live alongside AI, students are broadening their possibilities while learning the skills and mindsets that will be essential for the future. The insights gained through this program will be applied to their future career decisions and everyday learning, supporting their growth into individuals who can thrive in the society ahead.
